This Christmas, hospitality businesses need all the support they can get. In what should be their busiest time of year, pubs, bars and restaurants are struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile certain online giants, who shall remain nameless, will have bumper years, driving literally billions of pounds of revenue, whilst paying minimal tax and contributing to endless amounts of landfill.
That’s why we’re running a campaign to encourage people to spend their cash with the hospitality industry this Christmas. Plus other ways that we can all help to stand with the industry in this time of crisis.
Feast to Treat
We think perfume stinks and socks suck, so this year we want people to give the gift of hospitality. Our alternative gift guide (coming this week) features dozens of original, delicious and fun gifts you can buy from fantastic pubs, bars and restaurants – all genuinely brilliant gifts that we would love to find under our trees this year. Not limited to meal kits, the guide contains novel experiences, cool merch, hampers and quirky products galore. We’ll be sharing the guide across our social channels, press and partners, plus running a paid advertising campaign, using Ignite funds to promote these incredible businesses as much as we can. Stay tuned for updates.
What can you do? Please send your gift suggestions to hello@ignitecreates.com or DM us and we’ll be sure to include the best in the guide and across our socials. Then vote with your feet, shop the guide for all your Christmas gifting needs – and, please, share the love.
Invisible Chips
We’re supporting Invisible Chips. The brainchild of the fabulous Hospitality Action charity, who offer vital assistance to all who work, or have worked, within hospitality in the UK, each portion of invisible chips sold directly supports the people in the industry who need it most.
What can you do? If you’re a hospitality business then you can become an Invisible Chips stockist here. If not you can help by buying a portion. They’re 0% fat and come in a variety of flavours – original, triple cooked, skin-on and dirty. Oh and don’t forget the invisible salt & vinegar and invisible tomato ketchup.
Invisible Christmas Party
Like a lot of businesses, we won’t be able to get our full team together in person to celebrate this year – the legendary Ignite Christmas party is on ice. Instead we’ll be throwing an Invisible Christmas Party, on Friday 18th December (“Mad Friday” in any other year). We’ll be raising an invisible glass of fizz, chowing down on invisible vol-au-vents and donating the bar tab to Hospitality Action. At least our invisible hangovers won’t be as bad.
What can you do? Join the fun and have your own invisible Christmas party! Find out how here.
Help for Hospitality
We stand with the industry. This year we have seen first-hand our valued, long-term clients suffer. We’ve seen businesses close, and colleagues lose their jobs. We specialise in hospitality because we love the industry. Hospitality is the beating heart of human society and we must all do everything we can to help it through the most challenging crisis in 100 years. Throughout 2020 we’ve been posting guides, tips and advice on everything from how to make e-commerce part of your brand strategy, to how to set up Instagram shopping and what you should be thinking about for next year. We hope you’ve found it useful.
What can you do? Let us know if you need help – contact hello@ignitecreates.com to talk. Tell us what you want us to write about. Or if you know anyone else in the industry that needs help please send them our way or share our resources across your socials and with your network.
Thank you for reading. Please follow the campaign @ignite.creates and on the Ignite Blog. And don’t forget to share and help us spread the word! 🙏🏼
